25 years bed of roses

The 26th of january it was exactly 25 years ago that Bon Jovi released their all time ballad "Bed of Roses".
A song with a special meaning to me. Almost 16 years ago I married my wife, and this was our song.

I am not much of a dancer so I told her already that a real Walz of Quickstep wasn't going to do it for me ;) But a slowdance on "Bed of Roses", i could manage. At our wedding we had booked the Millstreetband, they are (still) a very populair coverband. They play a lot in the dutch club- and party circuit. My brother (who was the chief of ceremony) had asked them to play the song at the start of our wedding party. I can tell you, it was a special moment because I just married the love of my life and was dancing in front of 150 people ( and they all know I hate dancing ;) ) .

Every now and then I think of that night again. Strange to see that some thing you do remember totally, I can recall every bit of that night.

We had arranged hotelrooms for out parents, brothers and marriage whitnesses. So after the wedding party we went with a few people to the hotelbar to party some more in a smaller setting. It was a good closure of that night. Being with the ones you love the most.

When we finally arrived at our hotel-suite, the bed was filled with rose-leaves, and a CD player played "Bed of roses" on repeat..... That's how our evening ended, in a bed full of roses and as Ms. and Mr Verhey. A night to remember, a night to cherrish...
