Pearlescent Poems # 1: Violet Values

The most valuable things
can be
found in the vicinity of our daily existence,

but the questions are, have we sought them out?

Have we known them? Have we felt their impact?

Do we live with an unsettling, yet subtle disregard to these important aspects, thus lacking gratitude?

Have we identified the worth and depth of what our life can offer us beyond the physical and tangible sense of matter?

Do we allow ourselves to fathom, contemplate and comprehend each other's presence and purpose as we ponder worth?

We can only know the value we have for one another, but not of what others have for us.

The goal isn’t to over evaluate these values and the efficacies they provide us, but to simply acknowledge them with true appreciation.

Within a life
surrounded by
landfills, waste yards, neglected homes, hoarded hobbies, unkept environments
and broken objects,

therein remains the sacred and precious
treasures that are hidden from our ever-complacent and ever-changing perception of reality.

Most finer things in life have already been
unlocked, but these are often
overlooked, unnoticed and unappreciated.

How many of us people,
places, moments, memories, and experiences
die

without ever truly being accepted and acknowledged with a warmth of belonging and, therefore, having the grace to

know reassurance?

Many die and drop away from our abundant ignorance and absence of lovingness,

Our pockets stay filled with un-given gratitude.

Frigid and hollow hands, from rigid and cold shoulders fortify our forgetfulness,

and in these
pockets, they
stay.

Never shared
and always
kept.

Until one day,
we
find
out that our pockets' contents have taken a change.

When we cradle our fingers into the depths of our belongings,

all will we find in the bosoms of our palms are residual
regrets.

If we continue to
forever accept what’s given unto us without returning something of equal or greater value,

then the only thing
we’ll ever give
involuntarily,

are our tears

when life presents its many shapely forms of karma and consequence.

Love now, give now, and freely share it

Because what is
Vile, it values
nothing...
