A Taste of Baba Nyonya
Hello dear @tasteem, Steemians and food lovers out there. This week I would like to bring you to a newly opened restaurant located at ITCC Penampang. The place is just 5 minutes from Donggongon town and 20 minutes from Kota Kinabalu.
It's open daily from 10.30 AM to 9.00 PM.
The restaurant called Tamarind Cafe Baba & Nyonya. Just little bit of the restaurant name's history, Baba Nyonya is Straits-born Chinese or in Malay language, Peranakan Cina, who are the descendants of Chinese that came to the Peninsular Malaysia, especially Malacca, in the early 15th century. Nyonya is the term for the women and Baba for the men.
Okay, now let me take you to Baba Nyonya food endeavours.
Outdoor Dining Areas
Here's what the exterior of the restaurant look like.
It's clean and comfortable place to dine. For those who love to dine more casually with the breezy air outside, they can opt for dining outside while watching the sunset with friends and family.
Indoor Dining
Walking inside the restaurant, you will be greeted by friendly waiters.
Inside its neat and clean with attractive deco. Tables and chairs all made from solid smooth woods arranged neatly for customers to use.
You can see antique looking deco and vase as decorative items on this beautiful cupboard rack.
The Food
Here are the menus available for this restaurant.
Crispy and delicious Prawn Fritters requested by my daughter. This dish is her favorite among others. She ate almost 70% of this delicious dish.
Next is this Ikan Asam Pedas. Its slices fish that taste mildly spicy and sour combined with Orca, Tomato and some special taste to make it super delicious. Fragrant and delicious, the fish slice is fresh and its mild and spicy taste is superb to be eaten with rice!
To complete the meal , we ordered this Vegetables called Sayur Manis mixed with eggs and some sort of tasty sauce. I like this combination, its simple yet tasty.
For drinks, my husband ordered hot black Coffee, refreshing Cendol for my daughter and a simple hot Chinese Teh for me.
My Thoughts
It’s a good place to bring your friends or family. The service is good and the food are tasty and fresh. The restaurant is clean and nicely decorated.
I highly recommended this place to my friends out there.
