Allergic - Could it be a Pollen Season?

Of late, my husband has been sneezing eventhough, there are no dust in the air (he's allergic to dust). This makes me wonder, did I not cleaned the house enough? I also notice that I have itchy on my skins here and there. Its been years since I have allergies, the last time caused me to see doctor where I was given some pills to swallow and this disrupted my menses cycle. While my husband was driving, I look outside and saw trees along the side roads are blooming with beautiful colours of flowers. Then, I remembered, one of my friend told me long ago that her allergies is at it worst during the flowers bloom.

When plants or trees grow and blossom, they release tons of pollen into the air, to the detriment of many people's respiratory systems. Now this I guess must be the reason my husband keep on sneezing everytime he went outside the house. Pollen is a fine powder produced as part of the sexual reproductive cycle of many varieties of plants.

Allergy Season

Allergies occur when one body’s system locks on to the wrong target, causing the immune system to overreact to an otherwise harmless substance. When pollen or other allergen, enters an allergic person's nose, eyes or mouth; that person's immune system overreacts to the harmless particles. This will causes your nose to be snuffly, watery eyes, and in really bad cases, sets off a bout of allergy-induced asthma.

Depend on the person conditions, an allergic response can range anywhere from being mild to dangerous and life threatening. Common allergic symptoms include sneezing, watery eyes and itching, while severe allergic responses can lead to breathing difficulties (asthma) due to narrowing of the airways or excess mucus production.

Types of Ellergics

There are two different types of allergic, first the seasonal one that usually caused by allergic sensitivity to airborne mould spores or to pollens from grass, trees and weeds. Second, perennial which generally caused by pet hair, dust mites etc.

Tips on managing allergies

• Try avoid or minimise going out exposure that trigger symptoms of elergic.

• Wash your bed sheet frequently using hot water in order to reduce exposure to dust mites.

• Rubbing your eyes can cause it to irritate more. Try to avoid doing this.

• Used air conditioning in your car and keep all our window in the house closed to avoid any dust or pollen in the air.

• Vacuuming is a better option than sweeping because its removes dust better than sweeping.

• Keep animal out of your reach if you' re allergic to a pet or keep them out of your home as much as possible.

• Wash your hands immediately after petting any animals, as well as your clothes.

• Consider buying an air filter. It removes particles in the air by forcing it through screens containing microscopic pores.
