The Pillars of Decentralization in the election process of Bangladesh

Today's topic is different.

Accessibility:

The voters are not interested enough to go to the voting centers and there are some security issues as well. Accessibility of the voters can be increased with the help of the decentralized system of voting because the main goal of the decentralized voting system is to bring the polling stations closer to the voters. In a country where rural areas often face challenges in transportation and infrastructure, this approach can significantly increase accessibility. By establishing decentralized polling stations in remote villages and urban areas alike, citizens can exercise their right to vote without undertaking arduous journeys. This inclusivity fosters a more representative democracy, giving a voice to all sections of society.

Transparency and Trust:

Transparency is the main problem in the election process of Bangladesh. People don't believe that the process is going in the right way because of some previous occurrences inside the voting centers. So transparency and trust have to be approved and that can be done by distributing the responsibility of overseeing the electoral process across multiple nodes, so the likelihood of malpractices is reduced. Blockchain technology can be employed to create an immutable and transparent record of votes. When it is under the blockchain system then the trust among the voters will be achieved in the electoral process. This is particularly crucial in Bangladesh, where allegations of electoral fraud have, at times, cast shadows over the legitimacy of election outcomes.

Technological Integration:

Bangladesh, with its burgeoning tech industry and a large youth population, is well-poised to integrate technological solutions into its voting systems. Decentralized voting systems can leverage innovations such as blockchain, smart contracts, and biometric authentication to enhance the security and efficiency of the electoral process. In a biometric authentication system, there will be no chance of illegal votes. This not only aligns with global trends but also positions Bangladesh as a pioneer in utilizing technology for democratic advancement.

This is the last part of this series of 3 posts on the voting system in Bangladesh and how it can be improved with the help of blockchain technology. Just 2 weeks later there will be a national election in Bangladesh and best of luck.
