Need of Transparent and Decentralized Voting Systems: Bangladesh Perspective
Bangladesh is a democratic republic country. She is in the heart of South Asia and is a riverine country, you all know that. The voting system in Third World countries is somehow questionable. The participation of the citizens in the electoral process is hugely important in democratic countries like Bangladesh.
Sometimes we can see news where it is talking about transparency in the voting process. This is really a big problem for the election process in different areas of third-world democratic countries. It is important to make the system transparent and inclusive along with increasing efficiency so that the government is selected by the direct and indirect voting or support of the citizens. But how this can be achieved in such a country where different areas are controlled by the political parties and manipulate the voting system?
In recent years, there has been a growing interest in adopting decentralized voting systems to enhance the efficiency, transparency, and inclusivity of the electoral process in Bangladesh. Electronic voting systems have been implemented in many parts of the countries, but it only helps to count the votes quickly but the process is not transparent enough within the existing system.
Decentralized systems and technology are not adopted in many of the other systems of the country, which is why it is difficult for the country to implement the decentralized system only in the voting process. In the countries where decentralized and blockchain-based smart contract-dependent technology are adopted, it is possible to make the voting system decentralized there as I discussed in some of my previous posts on decentralized voting systems. However, the concept of a decentralized voting system will not be implemented directly in countries like Bangladesh.
On January 7th there will be a national election in Bangladesh and considering the election there are lot of arguments and talks going on in the channels and news portals. Everything is about transparency and a fair free election process. It is about 50 years since Bangladesh got liberation. Being a free country, it is very important to establish a structured voting system based on transparency, participatory, and free fair.
But it is still not seen in many of the past elections although some of the elections were so good in terms of partnership and fairness. So, following the next upcoming election, I would like to share a couple of posts on the decentralized election process and its importance in countries like Bangladesh. The next post will cover the importance of the implementation of a decentralized system in voting in the upcoming years so that the overall process can be unquestionable and fair.

The Blockchain technology is well known for its data handling and transparency. It is immutable and this is why whatever data is stored will always remain the same and if in case any change is made then also it is traceable and consensus is required. I think that blockchain can be used in the voting system and it will transform it all together.
