Day 5 - Water Fast Complete - Results!

in #waterfast9 years ago (edited)

Good afternoon, Steemians!

I completed my 5 day water fast today and will begin my re-feeding after I finish this post!

Some things about today (Day 5):

I woke up feeling pretty weak today, but today was definitely not the worst day (that was Day 2 or 3). I had a BM in the morning before we went to Bravo and I had one about an hour ago!!! The first one was kind of smelly, but I only had to wipe once (clean behind). It didn't hurt coming out and it was solid! The second one didn't smell, was bigger, and also solid! Ok let's stop talking about poop now.

I feel pretty good right now, very hydrated, and with a clearer mind. My allergies aren't as bad as they were before (it seems). and I'm a bit more flexible than I was when I started. I noticed that while I was fasting, I wasn't sweating nearly as much as I was before, which is a plus in the hot Florida summer.

Weight Loss

So, you might know that I weighed myself after my last meal and I weighed 183.0 pounds. Here is the picture of me weighing myself after my last meal:

Here is me stepping on the scale just a few moments ago! I lost 10 pounds total in 5 days!

Pretty cool, huh!? I feel much better at this weight, and actually would like to continue the fast, but I'm going to start the re-feeding process today just because I want to start eating again. I could keep going, but I want to at least go out to eat once with my family before they leave for Illinois.

It's not a huge change, but that's what a weight loss of 10 pounds looks like! How strange that it was exactly 10 pounds! That's an average of 2 pounds per day for those of you who flunked math lol. I would overall recommend water fasting for anyone who has reached adulthood and wants to rid themselves of disease and/or lose weight.

I think it's a very healthy decision and it can benefit many people, especially those on the SAD (Standard American Diet). If you are thinking about doing a water fast, please read up and watch some good videos of people actually fasting and get advice from them. Don't seek the advice of people who have never fasted.

My next post will be about the re-feeding! Thanks to all of you out there who gave me words of encouragement! I'm still not at 160 lbs., which is where I want to be, but it's a step in the right direction :)

Learning to fast requires patience. The western world isn't too fond of the idea. Dry fasting is important too and helps get the kidneys filtering. I would recommend a solid food vacation by juicing. Check out my piece on fruits and juicing! Best of luck on your journey brother!

Impressed, and interesting to follow this.

It would be interesting to experiment with variants of this that go longer but with some small calorific intake each day. Maybe 10 days with 300 calories and multivitamins?

Were you doing any significant physical activity over the 5 days?

I wouldn't recommend that for reasons they talk about in this video up here^
I did do some physical activity during the fast. I mowed my 1/3 acre lawn (I took breaks though). I went swimming in the ocean, in a pool (two days in a row). I helped set up a family dinner (lots of walking around and carrying food). The very first day I took a 1.5 mile walk. Hope this helps! I would do a 2-3 water fast no food first to get your feet wet. If you think you can go for 5, do it!

Wow 5 days and 10 pounds is impressive. Keep us posted on how you feel over next few days. I am going to do a weekend fast soon and see how I feel from there.

Thanks. I will! Hope it goes well for you bud!

Congrats! I could never do that. I don't have the determination for that. Good for you, though.

You shouldn't write yourself off like that. It is hard at first, but baby steps and you'll get there. Having the right diet prior (high fat/moderate protein/low carb paleo/keto) will give you a really good shot at success, and if you're entering with the right mindset it absolutely possible for anyone.

Thanks, it wasn't easy!

Well, it shows good character to be that determined!

cool to see others doing fasts here. It would be pretty awesome to see #fasting get serious traction as it will make a big difference in many peoples lives.

Congratulations on the success.
