Travelling while Vegan in Amsterdam

Vegan in Amsterdam

Amsterdam is such an incredible city that we definitely want to visit again. Not only is it very lovely with its narrow buildings, flower boxes, and canals, it also boasts quite a few vegan-friendly restaurants. You wouldn't know that from this post, but I promise it's true. We booked a hotel room that featured a kitchenette, so we actually prepared quite a few meals for ourselves. However, when we did dine outside of the hotel our absolute favorite spot was an all vegan restaurant called TerraZen Centre that boasts a fusion of Jamaican and Japanese cuisine. Before we even get to the food, the atmosphere in TerraZen was great. It features one large table and a sofa, so you get the sense that you are sharing a meal with the other diners. There are tons of plants, vegan snacks and paraphernalia, and even a resident cat.

The most important thing, of course, is the food. The food was...incredible. The menu isn't very large but what they do have, they do it very well. The first time we went I ordered the sushi and Philippe had the Rasta Pasta. I actually had only tried sushi once back in my non-vegan days, and I didn't love it, so I'm not sure why I ordered it again. That being said, it was so good! The sushi rolls were huge and packed with so many things. There were a lot of flavors, but they blended well and it was really a delicious meal. The Rasta Pasta was packed with flavor and the spices were distributed evenly. Each bite was as good as, if not better than, the last. We ended with some hot apple pie and ice cream, which was just heaven on a plate. I seriously cannot say enough good things about this place.

So I'll keep going. We returned the very next day and somehow my meal was even better. I ordered the vegan chicken and chips, and Philippe went for the Jamaican plate which was very flavorful. The rice and veggies were tender, and the spices seemed to soak deep inside the veggies. The vegan chicken and chips were amazing and definitely my favorite. They were seasoned very well and the chicken tasted like the real thing. There was also some gravy drizzled over the top that added the perfect amount of moisture and extra flavor. We couldn't leave without trying on more dessert, and we went with the chocolate cake and ice cream. As expected, it was delicious. If you are ever in Amsterdam, you have to go to TerraZen Centre. You will not regret it.

I was just in the Netherlands. Unfortunately this place was closed when I wanted to go there. Found some other good spots though.
