A Tree House for my Grandchildren
This is a tree house that I started to build two years ago, for the enjoyment of my grandchildren.
I had help for the platform, but after that, I did all the work.
I had neglected it for several months, and I have decided two weeks ago to finish it.
The tree house is supported by three trees and one post on the back. It is accessed through a ramp in front of its door. There is a deck on the front and the right side.
During the last two weekends, I put the cedar siding on the left side and on the back.
I took these photos yesterday after I finished the siding on the left side.
There are two real windows (bought at Home Depot), one on the back and one on the right side.
There are two large beams connected to the three trees and the post (on the right) and 12 joists to support the platform.
An important thing to take into account when building a tree house is that the trees may move, either with the wind or over the years.
So, the connections between the beams and the trees cannot be rigid everywhere.
This s a picture of the inside, taken through the window on the left side.
Last weekend, for the first time, two and my grandchildren and two of their friends slept in the tree house.
I was sure that they would no stay there all night, but I was wrong: they did not come back to the big house before the morning.
