Today I will show you the beauty of Stob Pyramids!
The Stob Pyramids are one of the most popular tourist pyramids in Bulgaria. They are located above the village of Stob , in the western part of the Rila Mountains. The average height of the pyramids is between 7 and 10 meters , some individual pyramids reach a height of 12 meters. The Stob pyramids have a varied shape, but most are conical and end with a stone hat, resembling mushrooms .
On the northern slope of the ridge where the pyramids are located, they are more pronounced and distinct, as they are significantly less. Most are the pyramids on the southern slope of the ridge. Here the pyramids are bigger and thicker. The color of the rocks varies between yellow and brown.
In 1964 Stob Pyramids were declared a natural landmark .
A local legend tells of the origins of the Stob Pyramids: Many years ago, a large plain stretched out in place of the pyramids. When there was a wedding or other event, the people of the village came to the square and were cheerful. There were two young lovers in the village. The girl's mother did not want her daughter to marry her beloved, but the girl and the boy decided to make a wedding. The moment the mother found out, she went to the plain, deep in a big cross, and cursed her daughter when she kissed all her guests at the wedding to become stones. The day of the wedding came. All were very happy, only the mother stayed at home and prayed for her oath to overtake her daughter. When the dancecame to the plain and the moment the bride kissed her father-in-law, at that moment all the weddings turned into stones. From this day in the village of Stob rise fabulous pyramids, reminiscent of an unforgettable story.
Another legend is popular, which can be told by every resident of the picturesque village of Stob. A few kilometers in the mountain upstream of the pyramids was the village of Bozova , situated on several hills and different neighborhoods: Kolyova, Vuchkova, Topalska, Tachova, Hadji-stoyanova and others. Two young people fell in love and decided to get married. Weddings went down the aisle to Stob because only there was an appropriate Christian church that had passed through the "Momena" area and reached the path of the pyramid-ridden ridge. This ridge is visible to the northeast, towards the rising of the sun. But the bride was so beautiful that the kumm did not withstand the temptation, looked at her and approached to kiss her. At this moment, God has gone mad and turned all the wedding guests into a stone. And now you can see the procession of weddings on the adjacent slope of the pyramid, as their bodies also form beautiful pyramids.
