Vulpe House in Sofia

in #story5 years ago (edited)

Almost at every second Sofia house one can see a memorial tablet that a certain person lived and worked there. Of course, most of these names are completely unfamiliar to me, but sometimes there are also acquaintances, and this is especially nice :-)

Sofia Opera has, so to speak, "Russian school". In the sense that among its founders there were many of our compatriots or people who studied in Russia. This applies to both opera and ballet. And, by the way, drama school, too. One of these people - the founders of the Sofia Opera, was the opera bass Ivan Nikolaevich Vulpe (Vulpe).

Ivan Nikolaevich was born in 1876 in Bolgrad (Bessarabia). Now Odessa region. He studied singing at the Moscow Conservatory (C. K. Everardi and U. Mazetti). He sang in the Moscow Private Opera, as well as in S. Zimin Opera, as well as in Irkutsk, Kiev, Odessa and Chisinau.

But in 1908, together with his wife, the opera singer Bogdana Guzeleva, he moved to Bulgaria. He became one of the founders of the Sofia National Opera ("The Bulgarian Opera Friendship" / "Bulgarian Opera Association"). And he performed at the Sofia Opera on leading roles.

He was engaged in teaching in Sofia (Mus. School, from 1921 - Gos. Mus. Academy). It is considered the founder of the Bulgarian vocal school.

In the center of Sofia in the quarter Nizhniy Lozenets there is a house with a sign that he lived there.

Everything is running, but it seems someone lives there. Vulpe died in 1929.

Thank you for your time and attention.
