Quarantine days - Let's all practice Forgiveness!!

To forgive is easier said than done
When the pain borne can be compared to none..
And yet we’re often told to forgive
For that apparently means the battle is half won..

But let’s ponder for a minute over this act called forgiveness
Wherein we tell ourselves to pardon that person for their mess
A mess caused intentionally or even by mistake
A folly that made us like them a little less..

Now say we don’t forgive them for what they really did
And we exhibit spite or just plain animus
Maybe we go a step further than just stay quiet
And make known to all about what they did to us..

But somehow still, we find no solace
And we keep thinking about it day and night
Plotting and hatching a moment of confrontation
Or any chance to just get into a fight..

No peace, no sleep, but the start of an acute headache
Every time we think of it, it gets us furious
‘’How could they do or say this to me?’’ we wonder
We may partake in spreading rumours that are spurious..

Yet the mind is not at ease as it should be
Could it be because we didn’t do this thing called ‘Forgive’??
How could the lack of a simple act be so powerful??
Is this what it means to happily live??

So let’s go out now and test this theory
Let’s forgive the one who hurt us dearly..
And surprisingly enough their eyes well up
And they begin to apologise or thank us profusely..

Now we go back home and lie on our bed
With a smile on our face and no ache in the head..
So this is how it actually feels to forgive
Well it’s better than harbouring malice instead..

I guess then from now on we make it a practice
We try and forgive those who do unto us bad..
Someday if we were to hurt someone the same way
We’d definitely not want to be the reason they’re sad!!
