Cenote Ik Kil in Maya Era – 玛雅时代的圣井

Cenote Ik Kil is approximately five or six floors’ high, around 50 meters wide. There are so many roots and vines surrounding it that they look like a natural screen. There is also ground water seeping and falling from above - it is very beautiful! The cenote was such a sacred place in the Mayan era. During the dry season, the Mayan people gathered together beside the cenotes to hold rituals and worship the Maya Rain God Chaac, throwing precious jade, pottery, incense and other offerings into it. But now it has become a popular place for tourists to have fun! At the bottom of the cenote, there is a five or six-meter-high platform where tourists were lining up to dive into the water……

这口偌大的溶井大约有五六层楼那么高，二十几米宽.圣井周围挂满了树根和藤, 就像是天然的垂帘，还时不时有水渗下去，非常的漂亮！这口圣井在玛雅时代是多么神圣的地方。每当干旱的时节，玛雅人就聚集在旁边举行祭祀仪式，祭祀玛雅的雨神恰克，将贵重的玉器、陶器、熏香等投入井中。不过现在已经成为了游客们戏水的地方了！在井下端有一个五六米高的平台，上面已经挤满了要跳水的游客……
