Shasta Lake
I got a late start yesterday and decided to head up the central valley towards Mount Shasta rather than along the coast. I figured it'd be easier to find dispersed camping spots with all the national forests in the area and I was ready to see some mountains for a change. This is a view of Shasta Lake when driving down to the campsite (taken this morning).
I arrived near Shasta Lake pretty late, around 10:00 PM so it was dark but I was able to find my way to a free camping spot down at Mariners Point. It says it's a group campground but it's offseason now and no one else was down there. There were a few RVs across the water in a different area. Some of the spots weren't all that level but I found something that worked. The sites had picnic tables as well.
Not sure if the spots are available in season but there were a lot of pulloffs on the long windy road down to the area that you could probably easily get way with car camping at. Here's a view of the lake near the camp spot.
There were a bunch of butterflies around.
I have a phone interview shortly for a seasonal job out in the Tetons so we'll see how that goes. I may be heading to Wyoming instead of Washington if that works out. Tonight I'm planning to head north closer to Mount Shasta to find a spot to camp up there.
It would be nice to see a scene like this and it must be a very nice journey
Really beautiful spot to camp. Water is so inviting. Hope your interview goes well. In the meantime enjoy. 🐓🐓
Thanks. Interview was with some corporate person, went well enough but I don't think the pay is going to be enough to make it worth it, we'll see. I'll just keep wandering north in the mean time.
Beautiful scenery. Love seeing your updates.
Thanks
