Should you count calories?

The answer is YES! However, you still need to live and enjoy yourself.. and food! Flexible dieting, even though I don’t like the word dieting, is becoming the way forward. What a lot of us don’t realise is, the simple factor of loosing weight is to ensure you’re burning off more than you’re consuming. Of course it’s important that we eat healthy, and fuel ourselves correctly but that doesn’t mean we have to restrict ourselves everyday of our lives.

I consume 1500 calories per day, I also exercise regularly. But I like to have a treat on occasion, such as a Solero (only 94 calories I might add).

Counting your calories ensure’s you can have a little treat here and there, and not worry that you’ll be tipping the scales at your next weigh in. The easiest way to keep on track, I found, was to use an app which can calculate your ideal calorie intake and then each day you log your meals .. that’s it, easy! I use My Fitness pal, you can download this to a phone, tablet or log onto it via your computer/laptop.

So take the plunge, see how it works for you, I promise you’ll love the results! It’s a good idea to take progress pictures, this is incredibly motivating especially when you’re having a tough day. Just remember though, it doesn’t happen over night, keep your eye one the prize and never forget why you started!
