RE: Russia calls the shots in a fractured OPEC

in #oil5 years ago (edited)

When Georgia attacked it's province of S. Ossetia, the careful avoidance of the trap set by Big Oil delivered to the entire world a gift of lower oil prices. When Russia did not seize the pipeline a mere 3 clicks south of the border, untold speculative derivatives plays became worthless, and not only did the world get lower oil prices as a result, prices which have been lower ever since, but the war profiteers trying to rake in blood money (which was probably the casus belli for the attack on schools, hospitals, and defenseless ethnic Russian civilians in the first place) lost vast fortunes.

Good. This gift to the world is something I will mention when I reach the gates of heaven. It is something which every commuter, purchaser of food, or homeowner should know about. The present resistance to raising the price of fuel is just another example of President Putin's consideration of the needs of real people suffering the depredations of vile banksters every day.

I'm grateful, and so should everyone balancing a budget be.

Thanks!
