THE MEMORABLE HEADDRESS

It is truly dumbfounding to think that such a headgear can be considered as a memorabilia of certain events in the life of members of my family which includes myself. It all started when my daughter had a school program and have to prepare for a dance segment with her group in class which features about the ethnic tribe of the Igorot Mountain People.

Just to share a brief background of the Headdress and the people who wore them i have to touch upon the subject of the Igorot, or Cordillerans. Igorot, is the collective name of several Austronesian ethnic groups in the Philippines, who inhabit the mountains of Luzon. These highland peoples inhabit all the six provinces of the Cordillera Administrative Region: Abra, Apayao, Benguet, Kalinga, Ifugao, and Mountain Province, as well as the adjacent province of Nueva Viscaya. The Igorots are proud about their culture as a matter of fact the spaniards during their stay in the Philippines encountered the Igorots in 1572 where in which that they tried to Christianize the tribesmen with the hidden agenda of getting to their gold, for during that era the Igorots uses gold to pay for consumable products and it caught the attention of the Spaniards. The fact that the Igorots managed to stay out of Spanish dominion vexed the Spaniards. The gold evaded the hands of the Spaniards due to Igorot opposition

The Igorots are comprised of many tribes that reside in the Cordillera mountain ranges. They are known to be rice-cultivators.

As much as i want to share more about the Igorot Tribespeople and talk more about them, maybe i could on succeeding topics. But for now let me segway back to the story that i was sharing with you guys, and where was i ? Oh yes, as i was saying this was related to what my daughter was presenting in school which was the Igorot Tribal dance where in which she was in need to obtain this headdress as part of her costume. So this was the main reason why this headgear was conceived.

And the second time that this headgear played a role was during the time that i took these pictures of my son, Matthew. Really came up with cute photos while he was wearing the same old headgear that my daughter used on her school program presentation. Although these photos of him was taken when he was still a child, he was 8 months old that time, now he's already 4 yrs old.

And so came the third time that this headgear was used in an event was when we had this best hat of the evening event, which was a contest at work where we have to wear a unique piece of headgear for that particular evening and surprisingly, i won the contest and gotten a prize for it as well.

So now you see! How a particular item can bring back such wonderful memories which my family and i may cherish. Well, this for me is a story worth sharing, hope that you like it as much as i did.
