I don't think the issue of bidbots is going to be solved in the very near future or maybe even never. After all it's a very lucrative business and a lot of big investors in steemit either own a bidbot or delegating to one. Another reason bidbots aren't going anywhere soon is that there will always be users that needed them. I think economist calls this "demand and supply"? Or maybe just greed? Personally, I have a neutral stand on bidbots and had had used their services on some of my post. Though I've got to admit that they're not very profitable as the average rate is now 120 -150%, unlike before that the rate is 200% or something. I'm not sure myself as I've only heard of it from steemians with older accounts.
Indeed 120-150% is good too considering that it's a promotional tool, but I think a user needed to spend atleast $50 to make it workable, at the very least one needed to reach the hot page before an article is noticed. That's how I see it anyway.

As they are supposed to be for promotion and not direct profit, 120-150% is pretty damn good don't you think?
Indeed that is very good as most people struggle to break-even.
Paying nothing for promotion in the real world is a rare event!
