Give Thanks to the Creator not the Creation

I was reminded of a very important lesson yesterday when listening to a sermon.

"Be thankful to the Creator, not the creation."

What does this mean? It means that everything that we have has been given to us by God. Whether its money, possessions, friends, food, everything was created by God and given to us!

Many times we are just thankful to have these things. We say, "Wow I'm so glad that I have a good job" or "That steak last night was so delicious, what a great time." Instead we should pause and give praise to Jesus and thank Him for giving these things to us.

Often our society tells us to focus on ourselves and what's best for "me". Instead, we need to retrain ourselves to focus on God and what He wants for our lives. This is something that I definitely need to work on and get better at.

Romans 12:2
"Do not confirm to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is - his good, pleasing and perfect will."
