What is love? Can man truly love?
- The most powerful but unseen weapon than can melt like volcano, a hardened heart?
- The weakest tool that can make a great wave of impact that changed and can change the world?
- A strong bond that can knit two hearts far away together as though they were inseparable?
- The best way to repay an ingrate, the lawless, the tyrant and the enemy?
- An unquantifiable sacrifice?
- Life given up for a friend?
What is love?
Many thoughts ran through my head when I saw the words contained in the Holy scriptures, in the book of Romans 12: 9-10. 1 Corinthians 13 have been the very popular passage if the Bible that defines love and it's virtues. I had least expected to see the explanation of love in Romans.
Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves. (NIV)
I saw five powerful words defining words in those verses of the scripture:
- Sincerity
- Evil-hating
- Good-clinging
- Devotion
- Honour
To my understanding where any of the above misses, then we don't call it love. Undoubtedly, God is renowned to be the orchestrer of love having loved man from the very beginning till now that he had to send His only begotten son, Jesus Christ to die on the behalf of man's sins (John 3: 16).
Jesus the Christ himself also portrayed thos love towards humankind as he loved, even unti death, a shameful death of the cross alongside thieves.
He has also commanded us to do this one thing toward God and toward fellow making - to love. This forms the basis for this brainstorm - "can man truly love?".
We have read a lot about love and also watched several movies portraying love. Is love real for humankind? Can mab truly love with sincerity, hating evil, clinging to good deeds, deoted and honourful all at once?
