Some hot vibes for Metal Weekend by @detlev. Megadeth was one of my three choices in the 1980ies when it comes to what I consider "Real Metal". Never saw them live unfortunately but own some vinyl albums.
General public usually calls them a "thrash metal band" - trash sounds silly to me but I know where they come from (it is an official metal sub genre category). Anyway - they are from LA and guitarist player Dave Mustaine is the most famous guy of the band and was co-founder back in 1983 after he left another known band called Metallica. The music was true heavy metal how I define it - fast, hard but also kind of melodic.
I have their debut album "Killing Is My Business... and Business Is Good!" at home. This album was the start of some controversy career containing some negative publicity especially end of the 1980ies because of drug abuse by some members. In the 90ies they became also commercially successful with their albums and later by their own music festival called "Gigantour".
