Disappeared masterpieces. Paul Cezanne.
"A Boy in a Red Vest" is a painting of Paul Cézanne, written by him in 1889 or 1890. Cezanne painted four portraits of this Italian boy in a red waistcoat in various poses of which this work is known.
At the end of the 19th century, Paul Cezanne sold the painting to the famous art dealer Ambroise Vollard. Subsequently, the picture was in the hands of many collectors of works of art and finally in 1960 remained in the collections of the fund Emile Burle in Zurich, Switzerland.
As the most valuable work of the Emil Burle Foundation worth more than $ 90 million, the picture was there until 2008. In 2008, the work was stolen from the museum building. The search was conducted until April 2012, when the work was found in Serbia.
The picture "The Boy in the Red Vest" was returned to the fund meeting. The other three paintings with the boy are in museums in the United States.
