Altcoin will use Ethereum Smart Contracts to trade alt-coins!
I personally have been waiting for this for a long time... I hate the fees that Coinbase charge, I hate the power that GDAX has, I hate that EOS isn't available in Bittrex, I really don't like when FUD smashes the cryptocurrency price action when an exchange gets hacked. Altcoin.io changes all of that.
Of course, reading about altcoin.io really just makes me someone to create a decentralized exchange on the Steem network... no fees, super fast, won't get clogged like Ethereum and no need for Gas fees.
Altcoin will be able to be anonymous, be hack-proof, have no server downtime, depending on the user base - you'll be able to to trade any pairing you like and is driven by the community.
The only problem is, it's not live yet. Still.... really, really excited!

I’m a big fan of more decentralized exchanges so I’m going to keep an eye on Altcoin.io, that despite it being developed on ETH network.

ETH network is bottlenecked at busy times. As long as ETH hasn’t integrated POS (or switched to lightning alike style network) it will be slow. CryptoKiddies killed it. (Typo corrected)
That doesn’t seem ideal for a dEx.
ETH also requires lots of GAS. Doesn’t seem free to me.
Note that the altcoin page does NOT mention no fees. No fees, as in the hunt’s description, is when a dEx would operate on the Steem blockchain. But then the question is how does the dEx pay for its operation?
