Playing 'Project Cars 2' On A Prosimu T 1000 Race Car Simulator System

Over Christmas I visited my family in England and since I last met up with my Uncle, he has bought a pro car/driving simulator toy/training system/toy/toy...

I have heard about these for a while but haven't played with anything similar for many years and that was back in an arcade, not in a version in someone's home. My uncle was at one time a semi-pro race car driver so he takes it pretty seriously and has bought a really good set of simulator hardware fully stacked with moving driver seat, 3 screen display for wrap around visuals, surround sound and a quality set of peddles and steering wheel etc.

We got to test out IRacing and < href="http://store.steampowered.com/app/378860/Project_CARS_2/">Project Cars 2 which is what you can see my cousin playing on in the video here. Project Cars 2 is much more visually impressive, but IRacing appears to possible have the edge in terms of being an accurate simulation. Both are pretty impressive though!

In the video here you can see a Ford Mustang (66 edition IIRC) - being put through it's imaginary paces around the UK circuit Brands Hatch. I had a drive of this car and it was a bit like driving a boat - but I did get a decent sense of what driving the real thing is like, which I probably wouldn't ever have done otherwise.

These systems are certainly not cheap, but definitely much cheaper than the cost of running real cars and getting involved in races for real - you can even win pretty large prizes in online contests too, so maybe the investment is not too high if you are a top quality driver... hint: it's probably best to put your beer down first before driving these (or a real car!).
