WHICH DETERMINES PROGRESS ON STEEMIT; UPVOTE or POST?

Do you know I have tried to figure out the correct answer to this my funny question severally since i joined steemit, but I have not been able to.

Sometimes the question sounds unneccesary, or rather stupid.
Sometimes it sounds funny and simple too, Lol
But sometimes when this kind of question comes up to you, delibrately or otherwise, you might find out that no matter how you try to figure it out, you still feel or find it difficult to settle with an answer.

Honestly, I don't know answer to that question.

REMEMBER; WITHOUT POST(both blog and comment), THERE CAN NEVER BE UPVOTE, AND WITHOUT UPVOTE, POST BECOMES SOMEHOW UNPROFITABLE TO THE WRITER, but he/she still posts.

But since we are talking about which determines progress here on steemit, you will still see that there is this thing(should I call it inner move that encourages us to do better than we did assuredly.

Even when we didn't get any upvote to an immediate Post we made, we still want to make another one, hoping to eventually get upvote. Upvote we didn't get in a particular Post, we are still motivated by UPVOTE we think we have to get had we made another post.

And at the same time, When our post is UPVOTED, we feel fulfilled but not settled. We see another motivation and opportunity from the UPVOTE to make another POST. We make another post and see motivation and also opportunity to get an UPVOTE.

SO MY QUESTION IS;

1.ARE THEY INTERTWINED, or IS ONE MORE OF A DETERMINANT THAN THE OTHER?
2.WHICH OF THEM (UPVOTE OR POST)?
