CAC DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE 📚
(THE LIVING WATER)
DATE: Tuesday, 13th March, 2018
TOPIC: THE POWER OF YOUR WORDS
📖 READ: Proverbs 18:20,21
MEMORISE: Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit. (Proverbs 18:21)
EXPOSITION:
There is power in spoken words. God created everything by His Word (Gen. 1:3). Our words have creative power. You may do a great deal of good, or a great deal of harm to yourself, according to the use you make of your tongue. Many have brought their own deaths by their negative words. In the same vein, many have saved their own lives by their positive confessions (v. 21).
Your words are the fruit of your mouths (v. 20). How you take care of it will determine the result that will appear in your life, later. Your words would benefit you when they are positive and uplifting (Prov. 10:11). It is by our words we are justified, or condemn (Prov. 6:2). The tongue is the best of things when used wisely and lovingly, but it is the worst of things when used otherwise (James 3:10).
Everything in life rises and falls on the confessions one makes with one's tongue. The ten spies confessed that they could not go and possess the Promise Land, and indeed, they didn't get there (Num. 13:26-29). Joshua and Caleb confessed in the positive, and they eventually inherited the land (Num. 13:30). The ten spies allowed their physical challenges to control their spoken words. We must mind what we say whenever we have challenges. In time of challenges, your words can bring beauty, value, nourishments, and healing to your inner person.
Whatever you add to the phrase I am is so powerful. It will eventually happen, no matter the situation. That is why the Lord says, Let the weak say, 'I am strong' (Joel 3:10b). Even when you are weak, still confess that you are strong, because whatever you add to the words I am matters a lot. Why won't you be adding positives, henceforth?
PRAYER POINTS:
I release myself from the bondage I have put myself in through my careless utterance, in Jesus' name.
I am strong, I am highly favoured, and I am more then conqueror, in Jesus' name.
Lord, through Your healing power, release those who have been in bondages occasioned by the abuse of their tongues.
