(THE LIVING WATER)

TOPIC: KNOW YOUR NEIGHBOUR
📖 READ: Luke 10:25-37
MEMORISE:
But he, wanting to justify himself, said to Jesus', "And who is my neighbour?" (Luke 10:29)
EXPOSITION:
Yesterday we looked at how we can have better relationship with people. Today is a continuation of that.
Understanding: Everyone deserves to be understood. Study shows that most of the disagreements and conflicts between people today are caused by lack of misunderstanding. Since we have different cultures, backgrounds, colours and languages, there is bound to be differences. However, that becomes reduced when we try to imbibe the spirit of understanding. There should be mutual agreement. We should be able to share our differences and appreciate other people's opinion. And to achieve this, selfishness, arrogance, pride, tribalism, ego, etc. should not be allowed to take the centre stage.
Working the relationship: bettering any relationship requires concerted efforts. Jesus had to go through Sychar in Samaria in order to bring that adulteress to the knowledge of salvation and true worship of God, regardless of the hostility between the Samaritans and the Jews.
Communication: good communication is the fuel of better relationship.
Listening: One of the habits you must inculcate in your relationship is the ability to listen. Great leaders are good listeners. You cannot relate well if you are not the listening and very attentive type. The other person feels that you respect him/her when you listen to them when they talk, and that shows how respectable you are. When one of the communicators is a listener, matters are easily resolved, but interruption fuels the argument.
PRAYER POINTS:
I ask for a large heart to accommodate everyone, in line with Your love, in Jesus' name.
Lord, give believers the needed skills to manage conflicts at home, workplaces, churches, and the entire society at large.
The spirit of hatred and vengeance, die in our hearts, churches, and land, in Jesus' name.
