INTEGRITY AND ITS FRUITS

According to Oxford Dictionary. Integrity the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles.

There was a guy in my neighbourhood, a graduate too. During his service year after graduation, he saved some money for after service business. After service, he purchased a bike ( we call it okada in our local environment) and started a bike transport business.

One day he worked late into the night and was even about rounding up for the day when he saw a man with luggage coming from afar and also waving at him as everywhere was already dark. He went close to the man and the man explained how his car broke down as he was coming to Akure from Lagos for three (3) days programme. He (the bikeman) offered to help and took the man to a nearby hotel and left.

He (the bike man) woke up the following morning to wash his bike and prepare for another day job when he saw male purse hanging in between the bike exhaust; he picked, open and was surprised to see bills of money totalling 180,000 naira after counting. He was so shocked but saw the owner's identity and it was the man.
One mind told him to keep the money since he has enough financial problem but he decided to return the purse, and he did.

The man was so happy and offered some cash out of the bulk but the bike man declined. That was how they became friends. He became the man's official transportman for the 3days..... Lol but true.

They had gists and the man was surprised to know that the bikeman was a graduate. He collected the bikeman's credentials and travelled back after the 3days seminar.

Some months after, he got a call and the caller asked if he (the bikeman) could come to Lagos in 2 days time. He was afraid because he has no one in Lagos, but he later got a call from the man he helped some months ago ordering him to go to Lagos Airport for a job interview, revealing that the seminar he travelled down for then was airport directors seminar as one of the directors in the International wing. He added also that an hotel room had been booked for his comfortable accommodation and asked for his account number which was credited handsomely to ease his financial stress.
He is now one of the high ranked staff in the airport presently.

ASK YOURSELF.

• Assuming he was greedy, would he have gotten to his present stage?
• Assuming his integrity failed him, wouldn't he have finished the money?
