A great program for creating vector graphics and cool illustrations!

in Project HOPE4 years ago (edited)

Do you remember my recent post in which I wrote about doing online courses and developing ourselves? One of my personal goals in the recent weeks has been to improve my video editing skills. But, as I worked on that, I quickly noticed that I have to work on my graphics and illustrations as well. And as I did that, I was introduced to Affinity Designer, a program I have learned to love since then!

Affinity Designer might seem complicated at first, at least if you have no experience with vector graphics at all. You can do normal pixel editing and drawing like other programs (such as paint), but when you start understanding how to make a picture using forms and shapes, you will most likely fall in love with it.

Hello Steem.png

Do you see the illustration above? Do you know what is cool about it? I can stretch it and make it smaller and bigger, and it will not have any effect on the looks of the picture. Do you know why? Because it is all about shapes, meaning that if you make a circle bigger, it will still remain a circle. As a result, I can increase the size of the robot in the image to three times as big, and he will still look as nice as he does right now. I can shrink the robot as well, and the only thing that will be hurt is his self-confidence, because he has no clue why I want to make him that small. But, the quality will be the same!

Affinity Designer can be tested for free for seven days, and after that, there is a one time fee of 50 USD (in the USA to purchase the program). That will give you a license valid forever, making it actually a quite good deal. But, I have got to be honest - I have been fighting a lot with the program, and I have been attending and watched quite a lot of videos on SkillShare in order to understand how it all works. But, now that I have learned to love it and know it, I can make quite cool stuff quickly!

Do you like the sound of that? You can visit the Affinity Designer website at https://affinity.serif.com/en-gb/designer/

The thing is that I am having so much fun with the program, that I often sacrifice my sleeping hours in order to have fun and develop my skills in this program. And even though it all started with video editing, this is actually helping me a lot making illustrations for the videos I make as well. So, if you want to see more of the robot, check the following SurfsharkVPN review I created some days ago!

I hope this article has inspired you to learn something new. If you have comments or questions, just write them down and I will do my best to answer!

Nice. I need to check out Affinity. Looks easy to use.

Hello @unbiasedwriter
That seems to be a good tool.
I particularly do everything in Power point, that's the most basic thing in the world, but it works for me, the image edits, I do everything there. But of course, I don't do big things.

Man, I have never tried to use PowerPoint for such stuff, but I know people do... and if it works for you, it is a really good solution as well!

Yes, actually I have been able to do good things in power point, it's great LOL
But, it never hurts to use other tools, obviously.

looks cool though, if it is an easy to use tool, then it will surely steal many designers' heart

Well, when you learn it, then it becomes easy. Until then, it takes some hours of energy and investing! :)

good article, the truth was that I did not know that tool thanks for the contribution
