Wednesday-Educational Theme - Opinion Matters... But Not Just Yours || 20% to steemit-pak
Hello all,
People generally have less tolerance for others' point of view. In a discussion, we are always trying to impose our opinion on the other person, not realizing that they also have a mind of their own which generates ideas just like our brain does for us.
Having an open mind in a conversation is very important to generate a fruitful discussion and gain something out of that discussion. One should always be considerate towards other people when having an argument or a debate.
I have come to realize that every person has their own unique way of thinking, which they have developed because of the life they lived, the experiences they went through, the hardships they faced, the people they lived with and so many other reasons. It is the diversity in people's thoughts and ideas which ensures progress and development of the society.
Everyone is entitled to have a point of view, and they should be granted that opportunity. Even if you are more qualified on the topic under discussion, you should always give leverage to the other person to express their thoughts.
In order to understand how another person is thinking, we have to put ourselves in their shoes and approach the issue from their angle. Only then, can we actually understand what they are thinking, and why they are thinking that way. This, in itself, is a way to broaden our horizon and diversify our knowledge about a certain topic.
A discussion is not a competition, where you can win by imposing your thoughts on someone. In fact, a person who does not want to listen to others and just talks about what he / she thinks or believes, is not contributing anything towards the discussion.
A logical person will always give due respect to others by listening to their ideas and presenting his / her own in a way which would not humiliate others. Such interactions will produce positive results and will benefit everyone.
