What really helped a lot for me with anxiety and depression (and quite literally saved me) was taking action toward my goals. I always felt at my worst when I didn't have clear goals or when my goals and actions weren't in alignment. The process of fixing what was broken in my life is what "cured" me of my depression.
Perhaps men and women handle these kinds of things in completely different ways?
