My Actifit Report Card: November 1 2023steemCreated with Sketch.

My body continues to get better after my brief respiratory bug a couple of days ago, although I'm still feeling a bit worn down and tired.
I figured that a hike up and around on the Thumb Butte trails wouldn't be too taxing, and it was a beautiful day to get outdoors for a couple of hours.

We got out relatively early for our little 2 mile morning stroll, although Lulu was mostly interested in exploring all of the smells along the way.
Still, it wasn't too bad of a walk even with plenty of Lulu pauses, and the crisp morning air made even better.
Thumb Butte isn't far away, and there were a few cars parked already, so I figured we'd have some company on our hilly loop around the butte.

The ascent took us up the steep switchbacked but paved trail up to the middle of the Butte. It's nice that this section is paved otherwise ot would really be a tough climb as it is a steady and often steep climb up along the Butte which afforded great views of Prescott far below and Thumb Butte looming up next to us.

Once we reached the crest of the ascent of the trail, it was tome for a little rest for us both. Whole Lulu enjoyed a rest in that shade and some cold water to drink I checked out a few Pinon pines along the trail that had produced a decent batch of cones that had obviously attracted some jays for a meal. I was able to gather a few cones and some loose pine nuts for home.

Then it was time for the longer, less steep and now dirt section of trails that would twist and turn as we made our way back down the hillsides. We did meet several other hikers as we descended the butte but Lulu was more interested in keeping up the walk instead of socializing for a change.

I wasn't feeling that bad so the miles and the earlier climb hadn't worn me out, plus the gentler descent on the soft dirt trail made the miles go by quickly. A few breaks in the trees gave us a few nice views of Thumb Butte now quite some distance away.

So it was a very nice hike even if my body wasn't totally recovered and both Lulu and I enjoy these woodsy outings. Maybe we'll get out to Stanton soon for some more prospecting.
A final picture of some Indian Paintbrush still blooming on this first day in November.
Enjoy.

Looks like you and Lulu had a nice walk at Thumb Butte despite the ongoing recovery.
Breathing in the fresh air and enjoying the scenery is a great way to recover. The landscapes you show us are really wonderful.

Just wish the air wasn't so dry as it drives my cough nuts. Still it's so much better than sitting inside.
