Really Good Austrian Costumes & Dirndl!

 1- Yes, I am very glad this is traditional clothing here. Being attractive obviously helps your case.

2- The meaning of the knot on the sash: Right = married or taken.

3- Left = Single and ready to mingle. 

4- Back = widowed, waitress or not interested. We also tie that on our children. 

5-  Middle = Virgin or shy. The latter is new and not old tradition. 

6- Dirndl are for all ages and sizes. Though now typically worn for festive occasions, they also... 

7- ...are still often worn for traditional reasons, mostly on the countryside. 

8- I personally love them, as they really do look beautiful and compliment a woman's body... 

9- ...and they can range from very simple to very complex. Though they can be expensive. 

10- While women wear these "Dirndl" dresses and blouses, we men dress up in... 

11-  ...leather pants, accompanied by a shirt. Traditional ones have braces/straps that reach over the shoulder and... 

12- ...down to the back, but can then typically be unbuttoned and taken off. We also often wear some kind of jacket. 

13- Men often wear a hat with some ornament such as a feather, while women... 

14- ...wear a scarf that they also use to tie their hair back. Braided hair is common... 

15-  ...as they are often also decorated with flowers and other eye-catchers.
