To Vy For
Her eyes are to vy for:
their color, their cut.
Too, her lips:
their glaze, their plush.
Her heart, too, to vy for.
Sweet pumps fill thy veins.
"This one here's, to vy for."
...imagine...to think...
I'd vy for this one.
I'd vy to the brink.

I wrote this poem while single, and thinking about what it would be like when I finally found that special someone. What physical attributes of theirs I would take notice in, how they act, how it would feel to introduce them to my loved ones. I'd never give up on that kind of love. I thought to myself, I'd fight till they very end. That is how I came up with To Vy For. The image is a photo I took of my old roommates. They had a relationship that's a story of it's own.

To Vy or Vying means: to strive in competition or rivalry with another.
