Balloons: The Englightenment
As a kid, I din't play with balloons very often. You see, my dad is not a fan (this will be a pun later). In fact, he'd probably say he hates them. We would bring home a balloon from a birthday party and he would be irritable until it "accidentally" popped. I used to wonder why he wanted to mess with our balloon mojo.
Now I know.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It's 3 A.M. BANG, BANG, BANG, BANG, BANG.
rigaronib flies out of bed to go figure out what the horrible noise is. I am lying with baby girl and I don't want to move and wake her (which inevitably happens anyway), but my brain is telling me that it is probably little dude's robotic lizard that somehow came on and was running against the bookshelf. When rigaronib doesn't come back, I wonder if he couldn't find the lizard, of if he just went to get some water or something. After several moments I sit up. I see it.
A balloon. Stuck in the fan.
I assume rigaronib has seen it and is grabbing the ladder, until he comes back in, still frantically looking for the source of the noise.
"Babe," I say, pointing, "it's the balloon. It's stuck in the fan."
"Ah, stupid!" He says.
He MacGyver's the situation and grabs little dude's foam sword and wedges his pocket knife into the end of it, so that he can reach up and pop the balloon.
Even after the mystery was solved, we still didn't sleep again until almost 4 A.M.
The whole time I'm lying there, all I can think is, Dad, you were right. I totally get it now. I'm sorry I didn't understand!
P.S. I'm sorry for the balloon trauma I put you through, Daddy.

"Dad, you were right. I totally get it now. I'm sorry I didn't understand!" I must tell, there's more of those coming
Oh, no! I know you are right. You are going to be laughing a lot! 😁
I like balloons because I can sit there and make that squeaky sound, or the fart noises when I let it go. Yes, I'm probably too old for that. It doesn't matter. Balloons are awesome.
Haha! Or fill them with water for a water balloon fight, or fill them with helium and then suck it out so you sound like a chipmunk, or let them fly across the room on a string. . . Yeah, they can be amusing, for sure. But right now, with a three-year-old and a six-month-old, I think we will do better avoiding them in the house. Lol!
I still think it's cool that your fan is a fan of balloons.
Why can't you give Elsa a balloon?
Huh? LoL. I don't know.
Because she'll let it go!
Oh, no! I hate getting woken up during the middle of the night like that. It's especially jarring when you don't know what it is. Hopefully you got to sleep in a little to compensate.
Yes, it's very jarring! Coping skills are low in the middle of the night, right out of a sound sleep. It's funny now, though! :)
Balloons can be annoying lol, but funny story about them.
Yes, it was pretty funny! :)
