Animal agriculture

is not only one of the largest contributors, if not the largest, to Climate change, soil and water pollution but also one of the major contributors to world hunger. The second major contributor is political red tape, which we sadly can do little about without becomes world dictators.There are heartbreaking stories from charitable organisations sending food to third world nations just to have the governments of those nations have the supplies rot at the dock. Our world is sadly still in the hands of pirates and thieves and that will not change overnight. Regardless let us imagine a scenario where I had an all encompassing global executive power.In such a world these are the mesures I would take to combat the issue. Everyone would be made to eat cake - The End! - ok just kidding let us look into some real solutions:

Number 1-

the total ban of animal agriculture globally. It is a fact that most of the crops grown in the third world are sold to the first world to feed livestock. This is complete insanity! A hungry, often starving population works in the fields and watches crops grow in front of their noses that they will never get to eat, this madness needs to stop. To give you a visual image to work with, the resources it takes to produce a 1 pound steak would have you shower for a week and could supply 30 people with a huge meal of rice and veggies - let that sink in for a minute! As Vegan I would wish all the animals to go to sanctuaries and it to stop immediately but we all know how long some changes take to implement so this would most likely happen within a 1-3 year period. I would however try to get as many animals into reservations and sanctuaries as possible. But we are talking world hunger and not animal rights here so let us move on.

Number -2

Several studies have proven that meat and animal products are horribly bad for you, the industry however has no qualms selling their product under false pretenses and the public always eager to put their head in the sand chooses to believe them. then there is convenience people love what they know and what is comfortable. Even when presented with actual evidence many choose to hold their ears and carry on with what they are used to no matter how damaging to them self or others. In the end most humans do not care about consequences of their actions until the poop hits the proverbial fan and they have cancer or had a triple bypass.

It is pretty certain that many who love to gorge them self on the flesh of others would riot and cause a ton of issues if they were not supplied with their pound of flesh. The answer to that would be vat meat. We have the technology, and we are even now starting to work with growth mediums that are not as barbarically cruel as foetal bovine serum. So my next step would be to supply the corpse loving public with steady rations of vat meat. Theoretically if done on a grand scale it is actually cheaper, and already about 75% less resource intensive as conventional farming. As I am World dictator in this scenario we would be living in a resource based economy anyway which means that conventional production costs would not be an issue on my planet.

Number -3

In the first world we have the insane habit of wanting all produce to look the same which means that about 25-40 of produce is either fed to livestock or saldy in most cases is just destroyed and thrown away because it differs in standard colour, shape or size. how absolutely fucked up is that? Perfectly nutritious and fresh food is destroyed because it isn’t pretty enough! To add insult to injury about 50% of produce, in many countries of the first world, is thrown away because it has reached an arbitrary sell by date. It is not checked if the food is still consumable the only thing that matters is the date printed . the food is just chucked out no matter the condition. In U.S America alone this sums up to about $160 billion worth of food because it passed the date to sell.

As world dictator I would not let that fly, in fact this is one my population would have to suck up. The waste of perfectly good food would be heavily punished. All produce would be distributed equally nothing would be sorted out because it looked strange. Ugly produce is still nutritious produce- live with it! As for the expiring issue we really have the tech nowadays that can test if food has gone bad.Food would only be discarded if actually spoiling or on the verge of spoiling.

Number -4

People would be encouraged to grow their own food, even in urban environments. The state would supply seeds, tools and materials. City parks would not only feature ornamental trees but strategically planted fruit trees for the population to enjoy. In urban environments spaces would be allocated to create community gardens, rooftop, container and window gardens would be encouraged as well. Schools would have their own gardens and children would have food processing and gardening on the curriculum. There would be official drop off points for surplus crops which would then be distributed to those who needed them most.

Number -5

While the above tactics would amply take care of our world hunger problem I really believe that it is healthier for our planet to reduce our population. As World dictator I would accomplish this in 3 ways.

A

people who wanted kids would have to complete a 1-2 years voluntariat in and orphanage or a day care. This would make sure that only people equipped to actually raise kids would have them(let us not forget I am the evil world dictator I get to do this!)

B

Extensive sex education would be mandatory. It is a fact that a lot of unwanted pregnancies happen because people are not educated. the reasons range from religious limitations to inaccessibility. As world dictator I would make sure that no one is allowed to keep their kids in the dark about this.

C

contraception and the day after pill would be available everywhere to anyone for free. If we want less kids and less abortions then this is what needs to be done to prevent it.

With the five mentioned tactics above I am pretty sure that world hunger would be a thing of the past, some even calculate that if these strategies were implemented we could feed up to 3 times of our current population (not that we need more humans). Sadly I am not World Dictator and between the greedy power hungry politicians, corporations and a world filled with a general population consistent of mostly idontgiveafucks, I do not see much of this changing in time to make a large difference in the coming years. Not that I do not keep trying to educate and live by example. Like the personification of insanity I repeat the same things like a perpetually broken record, each person who jumps on the bandwagon paid for with literal blood sweat and tears and a portion of my ever darker growing soul. but what else is one to do right?- maybe one day the penny will drop with our species on a larger scale, until then we can dream …
