Something made Blaze do this. Something more than money, something no one would notice.
The whole capital had no idea why blaze was betraying, really!
It only felt like he was doubling his payout.
Besides, tons of event had taken place in the past that made Blaze take up this deal without remorse.
He knew the kind of man Delta is and he knew how much Delta would take up the integrity of his words.
Some years back, in a field operation in Botswana that saw to the death of over 200 soldiers, Blaze had to fight side by side with Delta. Then, it was a pool of death situation and for ten days they had to march through streets without sleep, all heading to a safe house where they could camp.
Delta practically saved Blaze when there was a cut off and few selected soldiers were forced to seal up an area having an operational group of local bandits.
The soldiers got raided on their way after an ambush, leaving most of them injured.
Delta helped Blaze into a deserted coffee shop. There he padded his bleeding shoulder with wraps of cloth, helped him stop the bleeding with stuffs from few first aid pack he had at hand, then he promised to be back. He left Blaze anticipating and the bitter truth was that he never showed up as promised. But Blaze was grateful Delta waited to work on his wounds.
Delta returned after two days with other troops of soldiers. Then, Blaze had already been captured. He was with the local militants who were up rioting for freedom above all.
The operation was successful, weapons were converted and their camp was also converted.
Blaze was down for two more weeks trying to recover. Being one of their best field soldiers, he couldn't be left out.
Delta came in to see Blaze later on his sick bed with his arms wrapped up in light bandages.
The dimmed light room had a little opening on the left wing, a small table close to the wall and a dusty mosquito net was well folded above Blaze as he laid down in less pain.
The very person he had wanted to see was in, Delta. He had a lot of things to say and as Delta walked in with his visiting tag, Blaze was almost off the bed and he could have been faster with motions if not for his hands restraining him.
Blaze unbottled all that he had in his loins at the slightest moment of truth.
"How did you...?" Blaze flicked, his lips going ajar.
"Shhh", Delta had sighed.
"I only had to leave a tail about your existence, knowing they won't dare kill you. That would make them pick you up as an hostage. Of course, they won't want you dead."
Blaze listened with all seriousness.
"I only came back to the Main camp and I told them about the food and the weapons the local militants possessed. That, made them fight through and save you back. They wouldn't have fought for you if you were the only thing left to fight for. Staying safe would have been a better option for them."
Tears gathered in Blaze' eyes as he listened to Delta speak. He pulled him closer with his weak hands, drenched his collar with his tears and whispered into his ear, "I owe you a favour."
Years after Blaze had left the Nigerian army, finding a safe head in Ghana was Delta clicking the line.
Delta spoke behind the line and all he had to do was mention his name that afternoon about him needing a favor from Blaze that very day.
Blaze without an option, asked Delta to credit his account with a sum of 1000 dollars for his personal workout. That was what really happened. Blaze felt he was going to have a lot of settling to do with the cash and now he was close to spending half of it before doing the major work.
Right in the prison, it wasn't up to 12 hours yet, it was midday and Blaze was already done confusing the guys who he picked up a fight with about the break out. He needed it to spread like wide fire, he wanted people alerted for the break out so it would be hard for a trace.
It was a move up, 2pm was the time and a guard was going to alert him on that.
By 2:40, Blaze met with his partner, in the same prison, a short Kenyan with hooded eyes and very black lips. He was in his late forties and he looked overlyqq desperate.
He had a knife unnoticed in his sleeves and he had some things to take care of. He had heard rumors heating up in those few hours about the break out.
Blaze had forced him to playoff, to stay behind bars for just 48hours. He had promised bail before 48hours and the Kenyan had believed. He felt the breakout plan wasn't what they discussed. He was just going to ask five questions and if it was a miss from Blaze, he had worked out the swiftest way to bury the blade in Blaze chest and eat up a long jail terms. He was just the kind of person that hate betrayal.
Delta stood in the lawn and his Kenyan partner stood right beside him, his hands holding onto the flowers and his deep eyes running a quick scan on Delta's expressions.
Free prisoners were also on the move from point to point, so were guards all over.
"Do you plan a break out?" The Kenyan asked politely and he watched Blaze' face for a reply.
His sleeve was well prepared for the knife to slide out.
