In My head Part3
Author's Note
What changed?
Nothing literally changed! Since the last episode was too clear to pull a red sign on a murder ahead. I think all I did was to paint a better destination and let my characters act at their peak. A little emotion explosion and show of true human feelings spiced things up and a cross road for future conflict is NOT all to this. Enjoy!
In my head Part4
Someone could have given him a hint on how bad the ride was going to be, and he would have easily declined on listening to the opinion. But now that he was in, he had no way out.
The gallops got so bad, that he felt he was being raped by the bike's seat. The only way he could catch up with freedom, was by taking a route across the major road, where bikes were prohibited from using. An ongoing rally had blocked the easiest route he could have taken with a bike.
A cab was his next option. As soon as he was able to wave down one, he got in without negotiation.
The cab stopped right in front of the restaurant. He finally got a break from the woman with terrible mouth odour, who had been trying to get him to teach her how to save a phone number on her cell.
Luta alighted the cab with all delight. He slipped after his second step, and his knife fell out. Luta picked it up swiftly, and looked around. He was too fortunate to have had no eyes on him, as he hid the knife in his back pocket; a place he felt was a bit more secure and wouldn't allow random drops.
It was all right at the entrance of the restaurant. He came in contact with people who looked like regular customers, that he felt touched by the idea of civilization, to take his mind away from pickpocketing. All he had in his head, was that anyone who would ever patronise 'Savory Foods,' would never stoop so low to picking pockets.
Luta moved in, and was able to find Debby's table with a call.
Looking left, the face of the lady far off was looking familiar. She was too quick with her movements, that he ended up having to give her back view, a full study.
"Hey!" Debby forced out. He looked away, admitting he got lost behind.
"I was just trying to fix the face. Seemed like I knew her before." She smiled as he spoke, before giving him all that she had, as per attention.
She liked him instantly. Though strange, she never acted like she had an ulterior motive.
Luta also acted cool. He called on one of the waiters after listening to Debby talk about a whole lot of things. He could sense instantly, that she wanted to talk to him. He had given her those moments. One hour on Facebook with her every night, had built up a lot in her head, that she felt she could not feel better without having a day with Luta, getting her sad and depressed everytime he missed the time.
They talked about her work. She was blunt about it.
"I am a teacher. I teach in one of the secondary schools in town." She had said, feeling comfortable with the feedback she got from Luta.
"So, tell me..." Debby picked up one of the glass cups, half filled with Active fruit juice, and flashed back on the scene that had taken place about ten minutes ago. Then, Luta was flicking through the menu to see what they could get; how she had reached for his hands and given him a fixed nod, and how he had said 'anything', from the side of his mouth. His lips! She had watched them vibrate as his words dropped. She then had advised to have just juice and talk.
"Thinking about something?"
Debby smiled. She sniffed and dropped the glass, reached the corner of her lips with a white handkerchief and whisked.
"I was just thinking of what to ask you. You know this whole thing. It's strange... You know..."
"I get it. You fixing it all up; the meeting. You asking for my number and the rest. I should be taking those steps... But never mind, it's all fine."
Debby smiled again, listening to Luta. She loved his voice, when he rushed to get off words.
"So, over to your question." Luta said again, as he moved his hands across his chest. He reclined, leaning on his seat and fixing a gaze on her face.
"Have you ever been on a blind date before?" She dropped the bombshell like she was being chased.
Luta watched her. She looked furious and uneasy.
"Yes!" Luta replied, and tried to fix an explanation, knowing she would ask how, where or when it happened.
The young high school girl he'd met a year ago, when he was...
Luta shook his head like the whole scene should fade. He was just going to lie if she asked. He wasn't ready to think of the whole scene again.
He checked his wristwatch for the time as they spoke on. When it was the time he had in mind to leave, he checked his breast pocket and found the knife gone.
No!!! He took a deep breath, knowing he was being watched by Debby. Then, he remembered he changed its location, and let out a breath of relief.
"Anything wrong?" She asked.
He shook his head and smiled in response.
"Can you come to my house? I thought about making it up to you for coming late. We would have a better conversation and watch TV together."
"Then..."
"Shhh." She stopped him, with her hands across her lips.
"Let's get going." She said.
Luta smiled as all his plans were getting in line without struggle.
He wasn't going to miss his evening series and was still going to walk in the light of all he had planned up in his head.
