Ethereum's Constantinople Hardfork May Launch in January 2019

Ethereum's hardfork Constantinople may launch mid-January 2019, according to developers on a bi-weekly call.

This release is pushed back from its original November target following problems with the test net launch in October.

Constantinople is expected to improve the network's performance by streamlining its code. It is also expected to delay Ethereum's "difficulty bomb", an algorithm embedded within Ethereum's code that makes blocks steadily harder to mine that may lead to 30 second block times.

The January release date is tentative.

We can just say mid-January, it doesn't make difference if we decide on a date or not. We can always postpone. ~ core developer Péter Szilágyi
