I think we had enough with Erkan's FUD! (and why his wikipedia suggestion will never work)

I know he is a valuable member with plenty of contributions in the past. But enough is enough. In his last 3 posts all he has done is to spread FUD masked as criticism. In said posts he has mentioned that he knows secrets about gridcoin and the dev team that if they get out everything will go to hell. But all he has done is to reveal the following mind - blowing facts:

  1. There are Gridcoin whales (oh really?)
  2. BOINC can get dosed! Wow, unbelievable
  3. Impossible wikipedia suggestion, and again he makes mention of secrets he knows but won't reveal yet. He also mentions BOINC is not a viable long term solution because reasons

I think we had enough with his crap. You have a secret to reveal? Please do so. I am sure all of us want to know if something dirty goes on in the background. But if you continue making posts about hypothetical & stupid scenarios with more fud & secrets I think we as a community should kick you out. I am sure your FUD is partially responsible for the price going down and all you are currently doing is hurting the community with your personal agenda, whether it's profit, jealously for not being a whale or whatever.

Why Erkan's idea is impossible
For the wikipedia thing let me clarify a bit why it would never work. First, I want to tell you that my secondary income comes from affiliate marketing and doing SEO for me and clients so I know a bit on the subject.

Rewarding BOINC is "easy". I am not a programmer but I am sure it goes something like this. Your computer makes X calculations and you get rewarded accordingly.

Now, tell me Erkan. How are you going to reward wikipedia edits? What if the contribution is only one sentence or a comma? What if the edit gets reverted (e.g. due to non cited material) AFTER the contributor has been paid with gridcoins? You also make mention of editing foreign wikipedia pages. As a seoist, I can tell you that I have placed dozens of external links (or links in the form of citations) for my clients in non english pages. In 5 minutes I can make tons of edits in foreign pages, without anyone noticing and earn gridcoin. Nobody cares to check them because nobody moderates them. I am ok with that, but I am sure the gridcoin community will not be happy with people spamming non english wiki with crap just to get gridcoins. And by the way how are you gonna verify that an edit is accurate and not spam and award with gridcoins? Maybe award more people to check for other people's edits? And then even more people to check the people who check the people who make edits? From personal experience I doubt anyone can come up with a viable method that is fair and workable.

I maybe wrong though and some smart guy can come with a workable solution.

To be honest, I am sure Erkan knows all these. He is not a stupid guy and judging from his previous work I am sure he knows that his "idea" would never work. My belief is that the only reason he made that post was to show that he "cares", with the ultimate goal being to spread FUD, discredit BOINC and ultimately Gridcoin. Why? What's his agenda? I don't know... You have something to say? Please do so or stop with the FUD and the "secrets".

Sort:

Why the coarse language? It clouds and dilutes the substance of your post. For most of the readers, it's like "Profanities? Some kind of weird rant, move along"

You are probably right, I could use a lighter tone, but I guess that's my style and I don't like "censoring" myself even if it means my message reaches a smaller audience :)

When it's under Gridcoin tag, it's detrimental to Gridcoin, much more than erkan's 'secrets' buried in long, unintelligible chat-logs. We are an open and tolerant community, with strong humanitarian and philanthropic causes. F words don't fit that image.

And because of what? A Wikipedia rewarding proposal, which doesn't even have a voting going on? You are overreacting.

Point taken, post has been edited.

"And because of what? A Wikipedia rewarding proposal, which doesn't even have an active vote? You are overreacting."

I don't think I am overeacting. In my post I explain that I am sure he knows his proposal is impossible to implement. He just wanted to post more fud masked as constructive criticism.

Of course there is always a chance that I am wrong. But at least I know judging on what has been posted here on steemit and cryptocointalk that many other users share a similar opinion.

No Gridcoins can be released from the Foundation without an official vote. And we've had much stranger ideas in the past than this Wikipedia thing. I also think it's unworkable, but F words, kicking users out, hidden agenda accusations...? We never had that.

If you are still concerned, you can join Gridcoin Slack, discuss it with the team in real-time. You'll get plenty of valuable input for your Steemit articles. It's a team effort, all around.

Whoa, hold yours horses man ..

Personal attacks on community members are unnecessary and counter productive.

I would suggest you don't set yourself up as an 'Mr. Angry - know it all' because there's always some one out there who knows more than you about the subject who'll be willing to bring you down with a bump.

I personally think this post, your post, does more harm than good ..
