ADELAIDE ARCHITECTURE.
Adelaide Architecture (Please click to enlarge........Thank You for Viewing.)
This is my entry for the Architectural Photography challenge curated and sponsored by @juliank and @photocontests.
Adelaide is home to some of the most appealing and historical architecture in Australia, especially when it comes to their heritage stone villas and buildings. It is called, “The City of Churches,” based on the many magnificent cathedrals and churches situated throughout Adelaide.
Sure, there is a growing demand for the convenience of modern designs and unit living but there are far too many established, quaint and classic heritage styled buildings to consider knocking them down to make way for an abundance of contemporary architecture. Thankfully, many residents choose to renovate or extend existing homes adorned with attractive bluestone, red brick or lacework as cherished features.
It is understandable that today’s architects and builders have a passion to utilize their newly acquired skills and knowledge, but I believe the heritage of a city is its back bone; its unique DNA and its foundational strength. A workable compromise should be the goal for those on both sides of the street, (metaphorically speaking) and I think share the opinion of the majority of South Australians in campaigning to preserve the distinctive character, charm and ambience of this very picturesque city.

This home is amazing! I love architecture and more importantly I love old architecture. The amount of skill that went into making this home makes current architects and laborers look lazy and untalented.
Today you couldn't find the craftsmen needed to build a structure of this quality without paying a kings ransom.
Would love to see interior photos of this home...bet it's amazing.
I share your thoughts entirely @thedarkhorse Modern architecture is boring and unimaginative in comparison to the older, more ornate type of buildings. I don’t think this was a home as it was very large, but we were just passing through and we had a lot of ground to cover, so I didn’t get any details. But this grande style of architecture is seen all around the city of Adelaide and I really loved what I saw in the short time I had, to take in all the wonderful details.
This summer I will have to get out to take photos of some of the historic homes around Chicago. We have a bunch of Frank Lloyd Wright homes that I keep meaning to drive by and tour the ones that are open to the public. The simplicity of the design of his homes while still highlighting the craftsmanship is something I really like.
every things is tested by time! this is an evergreen piece of art architectural accomplishment!
I agree with you @bagindooo It is a great architectural accomplishment. Thank for visiting and showing your appreciation. 🌺
Beautiful sharp photos @trudeehunter. Nicely done. City of churches....what a nice thought.
Many thanks for your welcome visit and support @countrygirl I’d love to know just how many churches there are in this wonderful city. Unfortunately our time there was very limited but we do plan to go back one day.
I guess I would stand there for hours and photograph each and every element of the building. I love it so I am taking it with me 😊
Thanks so much for your kindness @erikah I do understand what you are saying, as there is so much to admire with this gorgeous old building.
