Okay so I got a bit carried away when I sowed my basil seeds, this is also not all of them, but I do love basil and they are also great to share with friends. I also love to make pesto, so none of these beauties will go to waste. My 3 girls, loved helping me divide them out into bigger pots . I do love to get my hands in the earth and to breathe in that earthy smell. It is one of my favourite things in the world.

It brings me so much joy seeing the seeds I plant, sprout and become such beautiful plants. This is the relationship I want with my food, being part of it's life cycle, nurturing it as it nurtures me.

My Cherry Tomato Forest, patiently waiting to be replanted out into in the garden. I always plant more seeds than I need because there is always a chance that some may not sprout, this year however they all did. But Cheery Tomato plants do make great gifts.

Here are my pumpkins and melons, awaiting their new home. I have a bit of work to do until they can be planted out, but more on that later.

My beautiful wild garden, just how I like it. My salad is very happy amongst the mint and the plantain. The mint keeps the bugs away from my salads and I get to enjoy their aroma whenever I brush past them. I planted some of the basil in amongst them as well.

One of my strawberry plants looking very happy in the sun. I am happy to let most plants grow alongside the ones I plant, unless they are very invasive and then I just chop and drop, they give me great cover for m soil. Making such a wonderful mulch.

Yes my garden may look messy and overgrown, but it is very productive and very happy. There are a variety of medicinal plants in there, fennel, mint, plantain, mullein, clover as well as grape vine, pomegrante, kale that is self seeding and the cherry tomato and basil I planted out today.

Moving along to my second summer garden, which is being watered by the acequia in this photo. It really is, starting to bloom. This is where my Tomatoes are planted, along with my Calendula and Chamomile, mint, parsley and corinander and the beautiful Artichoke which I have left to flower this year. My tomatoes still need to be staked, something I will be doing in the next few days.

This is something I am very excited about. I have been letting a lot of my woody material rot down as i want to create a hugelkultur bed of sorts. There was a pond on the land I live on, but two years ago it was drained and I have been filling in the hole with wood and rocks since then. Now I will add this beautiful compost to the top and this is where I will be planting my Melons and Pumpkins.

Here is a better view, as you can kind of see the size that I am working with. I was so excited to dig into that beautiful brown compost that sits on the top. It looks amazing and I think my melons and pumpkins will be very happy here as they have a lot of room to grow. I have a few more days work to do though, before I can plant them out.

And finally a little peek at the mulberry tree. I am so looking forward to when these guys ripen. They taste so good. We usually just eat them straight from the tree, any ideas for baking never happen, as they never last the short walk from the tree to the truck.

So there you have it, that was my day today, doing what I love best, whilst being outside with my girls. I really do find my joy in the simple things, those simple things that also nourish my body and my mind and deepen my connection to the earth.

Beautiful! I absolutely love your wild and cultivated garden, I think this is a wonderful way to grow. We have all sorts of things that pop up from years before and I just let them grow where they sprout usually. It can get a bit crazy at times but I love observing it all. I love your huglekulture bed I bet your pumpkins will thrive there!!

Yeah I love to see the diversity that just happens naturally, it seems so wrong to pull up plants, they all play a part in keeping the soil healthy. My garden is really a true reflection of me I think xx

Your natural, borderless, everything collaborating and happy together garden made me smile. Sweet! I don't actually like rows and everything of one sort all together, and the plants grow and yield better when they're chilled and less formal. My mulberry tree here in Thailand is at about the exact same point as yours! - lots of fruit just starting to colour and LOTS of mulberries in our future. Lovely post.
