Practice Makes Imperfect (An Original Poem)

Practice Makes Imperfect

Hold this poem up for a minute.
Do you see its insides?
Carefully crafted lines mixed with subtle off-rhymes &
Words that jump down from the ceiling
That make you think & give you that funny feeling
In your head when you realize that you don’t know
A thing about what you just read?
Are the metaphors bursting & similes cursing out
Your name?
No?
Well good, this isn’t what poetry is about.
No matter how many pantoums you write,
Haikus you create or sonnets you conjure,
There will never be a right way.
So take this time to hold your poem up for a minute.
& realize just how wrong it can’t be.

I wrote this almost five years ago for a college class. Revisiting old work, would love any feedback!

Beautiful! This poem holds so much truth, and whilst reading this I got hypnotised by the flow; magnificent! I submitted this to Curie, hopefully you will see a lot of upvotes coming in soon! :)

@lukakorba Thank you so much! Really appreciate that!
