Shadow Gangs Carries Shinobi Love Letter to Gamers

in #games4 years ago

Shadow Gangs is developing into what we might think Shinobi would have been. Well, had Sega kept the franchise going that is. Independent developer, JKM Corp, has created what is best described as a love letter to Shinobi fans. 2D side scrolling ninja action fun is what you can expect with Shadow Gangs.

A Nina-tastic scenario

Taking control of Dan (get it?) you are tasked with saving your family from the mysterious Shadow Force gang. Considering you are a ninja master you have plenty of offensive and defensive options available.

That is about it for the story here.

Six bosses are waiting to strike you down in your quest. Don’t worry, if you find Shadow Gangs too tough you can adjust the difficulty. According to Hey Poor Player this game features 10 levels of ninja action for you to traverse.

Shadow Gangs features familiar level designs

Remember the cool bonus stage of the first Shinobi game? The one with the little ninjas running across the screen. There is a very similar bonus level here.

Remember the fight at the top of the Statue of Liberty from Shadow Dancer? A much prettier version is makes an appearance here.

How about call backs to Shinobi III, and even the Sega Saturn game? Yep, I won’t ruin them for you but there are plenty of call backs to those games and more. JKM Corp know their gaming ninja history and obviously went all out to show it off. Good on them as this makes Shadow Gangs seem like an awesome nostalgic trip of Déjà vu.

Shadow Gangs coming to a PC near you

Yeah, right now JKM Corp is only bringing this to PC only via Steam. There doesn’t seem to be a console version coming. Personally, I am excited to see more “console style” games coming to PC.
