Rockman Battle & Fighters for Neo Geo Pocket Color English Translation Work in Progress
The Neo Geo Pocket Color was a cool little hand held that just never got a foot in the door with most gamers. Sadly, its biggest surge in popularity was when stores were closing it out at severe discounts. Too bad those gamers could not find the difference in money to support SNK when they intended to keep the portable going. The short shelf life in North America did not help its popularity, we got less than a year with the Neo Geo Pocket Color while Japan got it for almost two years. It is easy to see that there are going to be a lot of games that simply never left Japan for English speaking/reading gamers to enjoy. We can almost mark one off that list - Rockman Battle & Fighters by Capcom. Fans of the arcade Mega Man games will want to follow after the jump.
Rockman Battle & Fighters is a combination title that is a mashup of the two Mega Man arcade games - Mega Man: The Power Battle and Mega Man 2: The Power Fighters. Understand the title a little better now?
Players can control one of four characters - Mega Man, Proto Man, Bass, or Duo - in their quest to defeat the Robot Masters. The order you fight these bosses is based on your choice of three sets of boss battles.
The classic Mega Man trope of each robot master being weak against certain weapons is alive and well in Rockman Battle & Fighters.
Two players can even link up Neo Geo Pocket Color units and play together. How cool is that? Quite cool if you have a friend that happens to own the necessary hardware.
Basically, Rockman Battle & Fighters is boss mode in any other game. You fight boss after boss in a winner takes all style format.
Okay, now for the bad. This English translation patch does not do anything to the main menu graphics and does not translate database descriptions. Other than those two things, English gamers can enjoy Rockman Battle & Fighters.
