Zelda Fan Does Something Amazing

in #retro7 years ago (edited)

The Legend of Zelda, a franchise that is almost impossible to ignore. Even people that are not fans of the game know about it, they know the basics such as characters (if not which is which). Sega made a few attempts over the years to answer Nintendo’s adventure with one of their own, only to fall “just” short many times over. Nintendo, knowing the franchise is a high watermark, has kept the Zelda series alive for decades (even though I am not sure what they were thinking when they allowed the CD-I games to be made). The Nintendo Entertainment System up to the Nintendo Switch, fans can almost rest assured that if it is a Nintendo platform, there is a Zelda game for it. You may think you are the biggest fan out there but have you ever created a 3D printed recreation of the overworld from the original game? No? Someone has.

What is the one Nintendo platform that has yet to receive a Zelda game?

Late last year a member of the Trade Sell Collect Retro & New Video Games & Toys group on Facebook bought this beautiful 3D printed masterpiece. Folks, this is just astoundingly awesome.

According to the buyer the seller told him that this project took over six months to create.

How it was made is impressive as well as how it was printed
The seller recreated the overworld of the original Legend of Zelda in Minecraft of all things. He then apparently exported the file and used a 3D printer to recreate it. The project took over 24 hours of nonstop printing to finish. The map was not done at that point either. The seller spent another six hours painting it. Wow. Dedication.

From the tombstones in the cemetary to the forest full of trees, and water ripples – this is dedication in physical form.

Easy: The Virtual Boy. Every other platform, both home consoles and mobiles, has at least one title, even if some only have a multi-platform release atm (Switch)

I didn't even realize you were giving away an upvote, thank you so much!

Sometimes the best way to get genuine interest in stuff is to not announce the rewards till someone steps forward with the answer. I try to be full of surprises.

You are welcome. Thank you for reading the whole post before commenting.

I'm a lifelong Zelda fan - of course I'm reading the whole article ;)

Sadly, there are not as many people like you here on Steemit as most content creators would like. So many just pile onto something that is taking off rather than reading the content, or watching the video, or listening to the embedded podcast.

I love this model.
Note he needs to make one of grille and the dark world from link to the past.

I agree. I would love to see the SNES game done like this.

This is amazing!
