My Neighborhood Watch #41 - Reporting Events Around us

Hello beloved steemians. Greetings.
It's a beautiful Saturday and I want to appreciate @xkool24 for the initiative of reporting happenings in our environment. I also applaud the Steem4nigeria Community for always keeping the community interesting.

I've had the longest of days as I've been so occupied since the early hours of Friday morning and then noting the cause for alarm is my report today.

At about 12:30 am, my dad said, let's go to the hospital, I am not breathing properly if I lay down, so we quickly had to leave the house that early. With the Keke Curfew in the state, I quickly tried to place a ride via the Bolt App. The price was 1500 as opposed to a distance of just 100 naira or maybe 400 naira using a Keke. My dad decided to stay strong and walk the way.

We approached the clinic and everywhere was dark with a few bulbs on, we wondered if there were no patients or it was a case of no light. We got into the reception to pitch darkness that night and had to search for the nurses on duty, luckily we saw one who didn't want to take a case of it was not an emergency because there was no light.

We got attended to and stayed at a very stuffy reception with persons who came in that night and everyone had to fan their relative or patient as the case may be.

This occurrence cast my mind to the similar situation this week at two hospitals also, one state owned; This one had a strict policy of turning on a small generator and lighting only specific places while the other places stay dark or without light. While the other had specific times for the generator to come on.

This is an alarming feet as it is already bringing issues to the healthcare system. Patients who rush down to the hospital to receive treatment on emergency would be attended to with crude methods pending when there's power supply to properly investigate; carry out scans, laboratory analysis and follow up with accurate treatments. We also had to do a scan, got to the lab, there was power outage and scan has been rescheduled for next week. It's quite sad.

While it is a very discouraging case, the government's negligence would be passed grievously on the masses as those who must get treatment resort to the private hospitals that would end up adding their running cost to the bills of the patients who come in for treatment. It is a very feet as the economy isn't stable enough for families to feed, now they have to face the punishment of leaders not properly putting things in place for its citizens.

If hospitals do not have power to run, would there not be a stall in patient treatment? If there's no way to install solar lights how then would patients stay in heat as hospitals are almost always filled. And the ones that install solar, can the solar power the equipments. These are questions that are quite troubling as it seems there's a serious decline in health care provision.

Thank you for finding time to read my situation report, the Easter break has been quite calm, but while in the hospital, you just pray everyone gets okay and go home.
