SIGIRIYA AND PIDURANGALA ROCKS! ⛰
Another must visit places in Sri Lanka for INSANE sunrises!
We chose to visit Pidurangala Rock as the entrance was only 2€ compared to 24€ for Sigiriya AND because it was a bit more off the beaten path as tourists usually visit Sigiriya!
The hike up was quite easy, but going up in the pitch dark poses some challanges - like unexpecting flying cobras and some slippery rocks! Oke, oke, just kidding! Using a flashlight solves all the problems! 🔦
As we reached the top for the sunrise we realized that also Pidurangala Rock is very popular but everyone is just peacefully watching the sunset and there is so much magic to it that its hard to care about the crowd! 🧘♀️
The mist slowly rising from the jungle below and the colours of the clouds hiding the sun... one of our favourite days in Sri Lanka!
Even though visiting Sigiriya and Dambulla is a bit off the usual Sri Lanka travel route we highly recommend allowing 2 days to go up from Kandy and explore the area! Also, there’s a great National Park nearby... more about that tomorrow!
