Food Sharing #155 - Momoya @ Ochanomizu, Tokyo
Hi Everyone,
Located at Ochanomizu, Momoya is a small and popular restaurant for yakitori. When you visit Japan, yakitori should be a must eat. When we arrived, I noticed it was packed with people. They took us to our table (we pre-booked) and was shown the menu on the wall but it was all in Japanese and with my limited Japanese understanding they bought out a simple menu with maybe 1/5 of what they had on the Japanese version.
Let’s have a look at the menu first. The Japanese menu and the English menu. As you can see, the English one is just on a piece of paper and very simple. Maybe only 1/3 of it made sense so we went back to the Japanese menu.
We ordered lots of things, shitake mushrooms, intestines, eggplant salad, beef tongue, chicken, and lots more. The one I was anticipating was the chicken bum which I haven’t had for a while and this place made it perfect. The fat was nice and no smell at all. It was just as good as the other times I’ve had it. We also ordered some cold drinks as the place was getting a bit warm even though it was like 10 degrees outside. Great restaurant, service was a bit hard with limited English but we made do.

大家好，去日本就一定要吃串燒. 我們今次就到位於御茶ノ水駅附近的 Momoya 吃飯. 這裡不是很大但很多人來吃. 餐牌都是日文，問他們有沒有英文翻譯的但非常簡單，所以都用了日文餐牌來訂餐. 我朋友會懂日文所以叫了很多非常好吃的給我麼。有蘑菇，雞肉，豬腸，茄子 而最讓我滿意就是雞屁股. 哈哈，比我上次吃的一樣好吃，沒有味道，很肥美. 喜歡吃串燒就要來這裡試試

It looks like a great restaurant. We always used to call the chicken bum the “parson’s nose” but I have heard it called the “pope’s nose”. A little irreverence goes a long way perhaps?
