Dubai is positioning itself to be a world centre for technology innovation and adoption. With initiatives such as the Future Museum, Global Blockchain council and Smart Cities .
The Future Museum will open in 2018, raising awareness, supporting and exploring the future of science, technology and innovation. We will be taken on a journey to 2035 to see how technology could evolve to enhance our lives and what role it could play in our business, social and family lives. It will be the centre where seminars will take place to discuss how technology can be used to manage complex social and economic systems.
The Global Blockchain Council, which is a 32 member initiative, will test and drive the broader use of blockchain technology. The Global Blockchain council has been described as one of the most ambitious private-public sector collaborations. This initiative will kick start the innovation and in a few years, the technology will continue. Dubai hopes to become one of the leading regulatory examples in the region.
Dubai has a strong drive towards the improvement of the UAE government services and the introduction of Smart Cities. They have recently embarked on a large scale transformation program to become one of the smartest cities in the world.
Dubai’s smart city initiatives aim to improve the quality of life of its people by “embracing innovation, and making Dubai more efficient, seamless, safe and delivering an enriched city experience through smart technology”.
Smartphones are becoming more and more a part of our lives. “The pace of urbanization globally is unprecedented and this trend is expected to continue in the future with nearly 66%* of the world’s population predicted to be urban by 2050.
There has been an exponential increase in smart devices, with the UAE having one of the highest mobile penetration rates in the world.”
